Wait, that can’t possibly be true, can it? Sure, a lot of people in the U.S. are uncomfortable with math, but 93%?

I was truly surprised (dare I say shocked!) at that number. But here it is, in a paper titled “Strategies for Removing Math Anxiety” from the Office of Assessment, Research, and Data Analysis of Miami-Dade public schools.

So math anxiety is far more wide-spread than I imagined. The good news is that if you have math anxiety, you can stop being ashamed of it. Basically everybody (except for a few propeller-beanie-wearing nerds like me) hate math to some degree. So now you can start taking steps to reduce your anxiety about math and get on with your life.

(Special thanks to Dr. Feenix Pan for forwarding the above paper to me. Please check out her wonderful Door-2-Math videos on Facebook and YouTube.)
